Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to everyone who accesses the Startup Roles website, product, or APIs (together, the "Platform"). It is incorporated by reference into the Client Terms of Service and any other agreement you have with us. If you breach this AUP, we may suspend or terminate your access without notice and pursue any other rights available to us.

1. Your basic promises

By using the Platform you agree that you will:

  • comply with all applicable laws and regulations, in every jurisdiction relevant to your use;
  • provide accurate information about yourself and your organisation;
  • keep your credentials confidential and secure;
  • use the Platform for internal hiring purposes only, not as a service you resell to third parties;
  • respect the privacy of Candidates, including honouring opt-outs, jurisdictional rules on outreach, and the terms of any public data source you rely on.

2. Prohibited conduct

You must not, and must not permit anyone acting on your behalf to:

  • give false or misleading information, impersonate a person or organisation, or hide or attempt to hide your identity;
  • use the Platform to source, evaluate, or introduce Candidates on behalf of a third party (including in the capacity of a recruitment agency, staffing firm, headhunter, or broker), or to build, maintain, or sell external talent pools, databases, or networks;
  • use the Platform, its data, or its outputs to develop, train, market, or evaluate any product or service that competes with or is substantially similar to the Platform, or to conduct benchmarking, reverse engineering, or competitive analysis;
  • attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise derive the source code, models, weights, prompt configurations, taxonomies or retrieval indices used by the Platform;
  • scrape, spider, crawl, or otherwise bulk-extract data from the Platform, whether manually or using automated tools;
  • circumvent access, rate-limiting, security, or usage controls, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems, or data;
  • upload or transmit malware, viruses, worms, exploits, or any other harmful or destructive code;
  • interfere with, disrupt, or degrade the Platform's integrity, availability, security, or performance, including by launching denial-of-service attacks or excessive load;
  • use the Platform in a manner that is unlawful, discriminatory, harassing, threatening, defamatory, obscene, or that promotes violence, self-harm, or criminal activity;
  • upload content you do not have the right to share, including confidential information or personal data of third parties without a lawful basis;
  • use Candidate contact details we surface for anything other than evaluating and reaching out to that Candidate for your own hiring, including no bulk marketing, no sales outreach, no list-building, and no onward transfer to other recruiters or portfolio companies;
  • circumvent the Success Fee (see Client Terms of Service, section 8);
  • rent, lease, sub-licence, loan, merge, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the Platform, other than the internal use expressly permitted;
  • remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices on the Platform.

3. AI-specific rules

  • Do not use AI Output as the sole basis for a hiring decision.
  • Do not attempt to prompt-inject, jailbreak, or otherwise manipulate the Platform's AI systems into producing content that violates this AUP.
  • Do not present AI Output to third parties in a way that misrepresents them as verified facts about a Candidate.
  • Do not use the Platform's AI systems to generate discriminatory, deceptive, or unlawful outreach.

4. Security and vulnerability reporting

If you believe you have found a security vulnerability in the Platform, please report it privately to security@startuproles.co and give us a reasonable time to remediate before any public disclosure. Do not attempt to exploit the vulnerability beyond what is minimally necessary to demonstrate it, and do not access, modify, or exfiltrate other users' data.

5. Enforcement

We may investigate suspected breaches of this AUP, suspend or terminate accounts (temporarily or permanently), remove content, throttle or rate-limit access, bring legal claims, and, in serious cases, refer matters to law-enforcement authorities. Enforcement is at our sole reasonable discretion; nothing in this AUP obliges us to take a particular action or to act consistently between users.

6. Changes

We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be notified by updating the Effective Date above and, where appropriate, by in-product notice.
